Promoting clients’ holistic health and community involvement

Psychiatric Rehabilitation (PRP) aims to support individuals in managing their symptoms to help them improve their overall functioning. It takes a person-centered approach that is highly collaborative since the main goal is to build a person’s strengths. It focuses on empowering individuals and developing their existing skills and abilities through skills training and practice. Among these may be daily life skills, including cooking, managing finances, personal care, communication, and social skills, among others. PRP may also improve an individual’s self-esteem, mental toughness, stress management, problem-solving ability, and more.

Since PRP takes on a holistic approach, it also addresses psychological needs that may be managed through psychotherapy and medication. Being able to cope with one’s issues and control one’s symptoms improves a person’s ability to function and adapt within their communities.
